Div. IX Class 17-6 (20 Any)
Reptiles, specialized to snakes.
Third Place. (5 trays)
Judges comments, try for more identifiable types of snakes and look for snakes with other animals.  Loved my Laurel Burch, top left and my bakelite, 3rd row last button.

Div. IX Class 2-1.2 (Medium)

Satsumas Specialized to plant life.
Second Place.  (2 trays)
I'm surprised there were only 2 entries.  I know everyone loves satsumas and plant life is so dominant.  I guess the deciding factor is you need a variety of plant life.  I tried my hardest, but I  just couldn't come up with the cone or grain example that the winning tray had.  Also, I neglected to label my curved needle back, so wasn't given a point for it.  But I'm sure you'll agree it is a lovely tray and well worth the effort.

Div. IX Class 11-6 (30 Any)

Shell with metal OME or mounted in metal.  No other material OME allowed.
Second Place (3 trays)
Judges comment, could use more shapes of shells.  And you know what, when I looked at my tray after reading the comment, I was startled to find that I did not have more shapes.

Div. IX Class 1-0 (Mixed)

Celluloid Assorted.
First Place (2 trays)
Well, I guess you know that the last time I competed in this category it was entered under Division III and I entered it as Div. IX.  So needless to say, I came down with a bad case of measles!  So this time I cleaned up my act, added better examples for the categories with newly acquired buttons and entered again.  Yea, no measles.

Div. I Class 10-5.6 (Various)

Steel Cups.
First Place (4 trays)
This is a category I didn't even think I wanted to compete in again.  After the California show 2 years ago and garnering a 1st place ribbon for my small steel cups out of 23 entries, I didn't think I could do it again.  But after putting out my medium and large steel cups and combining them with my best small, the tray was lovely to look at and the judges concurred.

Div. IX Class 23-10.2.1 (Med/Lg)

Oval buttons, material assorted.  No 18th C and limited to 4 studios.

First Place (15 trays)
There is always one button tray which is special.  Many years ago, I competed in National with an oval tray and thought as we all do, that this was a great tray.  When it came back the judges had said wonderful effort, but needs more OME and DF.  Yikes, at that time I was not very aware of OME or DF.  In fact I still buy buttons which lack OME.  So needless to say, forewarned is forearmed.  I left into the fray with my best oval buttons with OME, DF, and materials to come out of the battle with the FIRST over 15 other trays.  Whew.
